A short history of the Craignure Inn
Originally an 18th Century Drovers Inn, the Craignure Inn has retained much of its original character, the present bar is where the stables once were. Mull used to have an extensive network of Drovers Inns, where sheep were driven across the Island to be shipped to Lismore and then on to mainland Scotland. Most of these buildings are now either derelict or in private ownership. The Craignure Inn features in the book ‘Kidnapped’ by RL Stevenson, although it is referred to as the Inn of Torosay (Parish).
